However, Myne's personality did not disappear but rather merged with Urano's memories and adopted her personality.īecause Urano's mentality is far more developed and she possesses far more memories it seemed that she had taken over Myne's body but in actuality, they simply merged together. Based on what the author has stated and the opening act of the story my theory is that Urano and Myne's soul is one and the same and during one of Myne's more severe fevers Urano's memories and personality somehow surfaced. These theories are all really interesting. Regardless, I think this shows we don't need to trust Myne when she says the original Myne disappeared because she got swallowed by the Devouring. I'll note that the author seems a little evasive in that last sentence, saying it's complicated, so there could be something else going on that the author isn't ready to reveal. It isn't unreasonable that she would come to this conclusion, however, as she did seem to experience the original Myne disappearing. This answer would seem to indicate Myne is simply wrong. She's not a different person, so to speak, but. It's just that she remembered her time as Urano, and since Urano lived so much longer, the sheer quantity of memories overwhelmed Myne's. There are many 'romantic’ moments where what the other does or gives is beyond what a normal person would do in order to protect the other, especially given the more reserved nature of noble society.
ASCENDANCE OF A BOOKWORM MYNE SERIES
Now, a lot of their feelings when they fight for the other is quite romantic for us the reader though, it is clear to the readers and to many within the series itself will point it out, that they are attached to each other in more than a typical way, even when they are unware and don’t see it themselves. The author is aware of their ages and makes it clear that Ferdinand is willing to wait until Rozemyne is ready for more, or okay if she never is… he is just happy to be with her and part of her family. It fits the characters personalities, it takes a lot for Ferdinand to even believe he is worthy of love and happiness and Rozemyne is just doing what she always does, never seeing herself that way. It is more about them fighting for each other and realizing how important each is to the other that naturally leads them to being together in the end, but leaving the more intimate romance to ‘when she is ready’ at the end. Yes they are endgame, but I wouldn’t call it romantic, at least not in a traditional romance kind of way.
